Local residents who live near the bar have also registered dozens of calls and complaints about the bar in that first week, prompting Vorderer to call a special liquor commission meeting on July 27. The bartender was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Village officials claim the bar has been a source of ongoing and serious problems since it opened in early July, when a bartender threatened the manager, Kevin Phillips, the son of the new owner, with a gun after he complained that he was being tipped escaped to an Oak Lawn police report. Phillips’ attorney, David Courtright, was also served with the amended complaint. The notice of the suspension was emailed to new owner Felicia Phillips on Wednesday, village officials told Patch, as attempts to serve the owners and management were unsuccessful because the bar was closed. Mayor Terry Vorderer, who serves as the village liquor commissioner, has suspended the liquor license of PJS Spirits, Inc., which operates as The Gaslight Bar & Grill. The bar recently changed hands and since reopening in early July, village officials allege that the bar has amassed numerous violations of village and state liquor laws. 95th St., was scheduled to appear before the Oak Lawn Liquor Commission on August 30.
